Storming of Bastille marks the beginning of the French Revolution. The storming happened on July 14th, 1789. Bastille, known as the royal authority, mostly used to imprison the political prisoners. There were only seven prisoners in the prison at that time, but there were over 30,000 pounds of gunpowders stored in the fortress. The Parisian Revolutionaries worried about the King Louis XVI was preparing for a attack, because Louis XVI ordered troops to surround Paris. He also dismissed his finance minister Jacques Necker. However, the revolutionaries did not have enough guns or arms for fight. Therefore, they first took over Hotel des Invalides in Paris, and started to approaching Bastille. This event is significant because Bastille imprisoned people who did not agree with Louis XVI, so the Storming of Bastille represented the fall of monarchy in France.
On October 5th, 1789, a group of women in a marketplace in Paris were rioting about the high price and shortage of breads. The riot had quickly became an activities of revolution. The women started marching to the Palace of Versailles. They were seeking for political liberty and fair food price.When they arrived at the palace, they were demanding to meet the king. Six women were chosen to meet with the king. The king Louis XVI promised them to provide food and other needs. The Women's March on Versailles represented the balance of power. Also, this march gathered the largest number of people among all the events in the French Revolution.
On January 21st, 1793, Louis XVI was executed at the Place de la Révolution. The King Louis XVI was convicted of conspiracy of foreign power and condemned to death by the National French Convention. He was the only King of France ever to be executed. Louis XVI's death marked the end of more than a thousand years of French monarchy.
